instead of 是什麼意思？怎麼用
instead of 表示“用A代替B”或“做A，不做B”。它用來把兩個選擇放在一起比較，不一定表示“本來就該是B”，只是說明最後是A，不是B。
什麼時候說
- 說“換一個，不要原來的那個”：Can I get mashed potatoes instead of fries?
- 說“用這個詞，不用那個詞”：Pilots say niner instead of nine.
- 說“做了A，沒有做B”：We ordered takeout instead of cooking dinner.
- 說“這裡是A，不是B”，有時帶一點糾正：It says snakes instead of snacks.
語氣： 語氣通常中性、自然，也非常常用；在指出錯誤或對比時，可能會有一點糾正意味，但通常不失禮。
注意： 不要說 instead to。要說 instead of：instead of planning，不說 instead to plan。另一個易混點是單獨用 instead：I’ll have tea instead. 這裡後面沒有被替代的內容，所以不用 of。
